Culturize me.

One of my New Year's resolutions is to look for my lost inspiration. Specially after the museums I visited in London, I decide to start visiting some exhibitions, museums or galleries. There are many interesting things going on in the city of Athens.

So I found out about the Onassis Cultural Center exhibition from a Facebook link and continued reading about Robert Mapplethorpe. I was so impressed by his biography, that I decided that this is a must-see.

I called my friends Tina and P. and went there. We trull enjoyed it. The photographs where exceptional. There was also a certain dynamic because of the technique he was using to print them.

The entrance costs 8 euros (4 for students), but don't be scared by the price. Together with the photography exhibition and the 2 small movies that Mapplethorpe has directed, there is a 2-and-a-half hour documentary about his life that you can watch. Unfortunately, it is not mentioned in the program me, so we were not prepared to stay that long. We watched about 45 minutes and it was so interesting, that I could pay again just to go and watch it. But YOU, my reader, you know and you will go prepared. Maybe put a bottle of water in your bag too.

So, this beautiful morning and this interesting exhibition was styled with my new jacket (yes... it IS from London) and my new shoes.

Κουλτούρα να φύγουμε

Μία από τις αποφάσεις της νέας χρονιάς είναι να ψάξω να βρω τη χαμένη μου έμπνευση (ψάξε-ψάξε δεν θα το βρεις). Ειδικά μετά από τα μουσεία που επισκέφτηκα στο Λονδίνο είπα να συνεχίσω και εδώ να επισκέπτομαι εκθέσεις, μουσεία και γκαλερί. Συμβαίνουν πολλά όμορφα και ενδιαφέροντα πράγματα σε αυτή την πόλη.

Από ένα link μιας επαφής μου στο facebook λοιπόν βρέθηκα στο site της Στέγης Γραμμάτων και Τεχνών του ιδρύματος Ωνάση να διαβάζω για τον Robert Mapplethorpe. Διαβάζοντας το βιογραφικό του -πιστέψτε με είναι πολύ εντυπωσιακό- αποφάσισα πως αυτή είναι μια έκθεση την οποία πρέπει να δω.

Πήρα λοιπόν χτες τις φίλες μου Τίνα & Π. και πήγαμε. Και πραγματικά το ευχαριστηθήκαμε. Οι φωτογραφίες είναι εξαιρετικές. Οι φόρμες που δημιουργεί ο Mapplethorpe στις φωτογραφίες του είναι μοναδικές, αλλά και η ίδια η ποιότητα των φωτογραφιών λόγω της εκτύπωσής τους (αργυροτυπία) έχει μια ξεχωριστή δυναμική.

Η είσοδος είναι 8 ευρώ (για φοιτητές 4), αλλά μην τρομάζεις. Παράλληλα με την έκθεση, η οποία περιλαμβάνει ένα μεγάλο αριθμό φωτογραφιών και 2 ταινίες μικρού μήκους σκηνοθετημένες από τον ίδιο τον Mapplethorpe, προβάλλεται και ένα ντοκιμαντέρ δυόμιση ωρών (ναι καλά άκουσες 2+μισή) για τη ζωή του. Δυστυχώς αυτό δεν αναφέρεται στο πρόγραμμα και δεν είχαμε τόσο χρόνο στη διάθεσή μας, αλλά τα 3 τέταρτα που είδαμε είχαν μεγάλο ενδιαφέρον. Τόσο που ψήνομαι να πάω να ξαναπληρώσω για να το δω ολόκληρο. Εσύ όμως, αναγνώστη μου, ξέρεις και θα πας και ενημερωμένος και οργανωμένος (θα έχεις κι ένα νεράκι στην τσάντα).

Η όμορφη αυτή έξοδος συνδυάστηκε με το καινούργιο μου σακάκι (ναι, ναι από το Λονδίνο) και τα καινούργια μου παπούτσια.
