Feeling like a teenager

It's a nice day, sunny and comfortably warm.
I am feeling quite refreshed.
I was inspired to make an outfit out of this feeling.
I hope you enjoy it!
(I also hope to find some time to make a real post
about the interesting things I saw in London
at the end of September)

Anna Dello Russo for H&M vs Fashionitsa

Ok, I know that it's not a secret. It is not even news, that the new line from the Fashion extravaganza Anna Dello Russo for H&M is launching on 4th October. The internet is full of powerful pictures of Her climbing on huge shoes and accessories, showing off her clothes in the unique style that only She can carry.

But wait... this picture reminds me of something. Fashionitsa has been there (and done that already - although never published). Pulled from January's London archives... Me touching a HUGE Louboutin at the Selfridges.

Of course Anna looks a bit more stylish ;)

-----------------------------------------------------------

Bye-bye, Beaches!

It's been a while since I last wrote on my favorite blog. It is not that it stopped being my favorite, but many outer factors have reduced my mood for blogging.

It all started with the pre-election period (the BIG turn-off) and all the terrorism about Greece exiting the euro zone, followed by some losses (lost my job - how original these days). Then I lost a very dear person. So, no, I didn't want to write anything. I just wanted to sit still at the beach. And this is what I did.

And then 3 and a half months have passed. It has been the most relaxing (and long) vacations since my student years. But now it is time to say "Bye-bye, Beaches" and return to Athens. Fresh and renewed with lots of ideas and appetite for new adventures.

Τι είδε η Ζέτα και έμεινε με το στόμα ανοιχτό;

(source: Business Today)

(courtesy of Rakas, came to my email)

-------------------------

For my english-speaking readers that are wondering what is happening and Zeta's mouth is open... Well, Raxevsky is having a Bazaar these days and the annual Rakas Bazaar is also taking place in 22 Kifissias st. from yesterday.

So, if you are somewhere around Athens, it is a good chance to do some budget-shopping and find some bargains.

JumpFromPaper

JumpFromPaper is an innovative line of designer handbags created by Taipei-based design duo Chay Su and Rika Lin. Cartoon-like outlines and bright colors add crisp, funky flavor to the delectable designs. What makes comic books page turners—snappy visuals, vibrant palettes—make these bags downright head turners.

“We explored every possibility to find a way to make a two-dimensional hand-drawn illustration come to life as a real bag until JumpFromPaper became a reality”

-from Fab.com

I must say that what makes these Bags so impressive and unique is that they combine graphic design, illustration, cartooning and fashion in one.

I can’t really tell how they would look in person or how practical they would be, but I just can’t take my eyes off them.

-----------------------------------------------------

Union Jack

It's a big love. I think it started with a note book my mother had given me as a child to use in my english classes. I liked it so much that I didn't want to ruin in by writing exercises in it. I just stared at it and dreamt that I was in London.

The sight of its design and bright colors has always drawn my attention and though it was kind of behind my mind, my love woke up some years ago after seeing a gorgeous Swarovski bracelet with the design of The Flag! I window-licked for many days until I decided to buy it it, but it was too late. The object of my affection was long gone and in limited edition, so now it only lives in my memory. Unfortunately I haven't found a single image in the internet to share with you.

Then there was the SMEG Refrigerator. A dream object for when I would make my own home, but I decided that with the same money I could buy all of my kitchen devices.

But still there was the Union Jack Mini-Cooper for when I would decide to buy a car. Didn't really work.

I think this flag looks stylish and cool all the time, whatever object it covers.

And though I like it so much I don't own a piece of clothing or decoration with the Union Jack on it. Browsing through the internet I found endless objects and ideas for DIYs. Maybe it's time to buy something or even better to make something.

Maybe I should grab my tools...

...and make a piece of furniture

...or something for my wall

Should I use my sewing skills?

Maybe a designers object

I like this flag so much I could just eat it!

Ok. I am obsessed. Maybe I should just wear a pair of sunglasses and pretend this melt-down never happened.

David Bowie must be very disappointed

Please, David don't be mad at me.

Sorry for being an awful blogger, but it has been quite a full month.

First, there was The Marriage on 17/02, where I can proudly say that I was "the best woman" and though small and discrete, it was followed by a 2-day hangover (This a skill you know). Have a beautiful life together, dear friends!

Then there was the Mardi Gras weekend, with this dazzling sunset and drinking beers by the see on Saturday 25/02.

And then there was work at work and more work at home, preparing the second book of Mr Black Publications. It is now out hot from the printer.

In the meantime I did some DIY at home. The first is a tutorial I saw in Pinterest:

My results where a little... let's say not symmetrical, but still made a nice container for my ball-lights, by the fireplace.

and the second is a frame inspired by Urban Outfitters

and it was the most fun to make. I think there will be many following.

So if you are interested in making a frame like this the things you will need are:
• An old newspaper
• Scraps of yarn
• Scissors
• Glue or glue-gun (I prefer the glue-gun, because the glue dries faster)
• A ruler
• A pencil or pen
• A frame to use as a base (I used the cheapest one from IKEA).

So, first you have to cut strips from the newspaper measuring 5cm wide and fold them in half lengthwise.
Then twist the folded strips to create a paper twine. You might need to wet your finger tips every now and then to make the twisting easier as they tend to get dry. Try not to overdo it. We don't want the newspaper to soak on water.
After you make your strips (number depends on the size of your frame), cut your yarn in twice the length of each strip and tie it on one end of the strip. Start twisting and tying to create the effect of the pictures (no special tips for this).
After preparing all your paper and yarn strips, glue them carefully on your frame and press them until the glue is dry, otherwise it tends to lose the shape you give them and you won't have good results. This is why I prefer the glue gun.

So, not more to say. Your frame is ready (and cost far less the the original one - sorry urban outfitters!)
Find a nice picture to go with it. I think I will print a black and white one.

And then Spring came...

Sorry, for not translating this post in Greek, but I feel that it will take me another month to post it and I really need to find something nice to wear at Nortin's first fashion show tomorrow at AXDW, walking with F.A.K.E.'s creations! I am so excited! Check sneak peak pictures here.
